अन्य लोग : गांधारी, कुंती, धृतराष्ट्र, विदुर, संजय आदि सभी जंगल चले गए थे। जंगल में धृतराष्ट्र और गांधारी एक आग में जलने से मर गए। ऐसी लाखों महिलाएं विधवा हो गई थी जिनके पतियों ने युद्ध में भाग लिया था। उनमें कर्ण, दुर्योधन सहित सभी कौरवों की पत्नियां भी थीं।
अंत: में युद्ध के बाद युधिष्ठिर संपूर्ण भारत वर्ष के राजा तो बन गए लेकिन सब कुछ खोकर। किसी भी पांडव में राजपाट करने की इच्छा नहीं रही थी। सभी को वैराग्य प्राप्त हो गया था। यह देखते हुए युधिष्ठिर ने राजा का सिंहासन अर्जुन के पौत्र परीक्षित को सौंपा और खुद चल पड़े हिमालय की ओर, जीवन की अंतिम यात्रा पर। उनके साथ चले उनके चारों भाई और द्रौपदी आदि। उनसे पहले ही धृतराष्ट्र और गांधारी हिमालय चले गई थे। वहीं सभी का अंत हो गया था।
