Union Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar today launched a mobile application developed by the National Informatics Center (NIC) in Krishi Bhavan, which is suitable for farmers. The app will help farmers and traders find the vehicle needed for primary and secondary transport to transport agricultural and horticultural products. While primary transport will involve movement from farm to mandi, FPO collection center and warehouse etc., secondary transport will involve movement between mandis in states and from mandis in one state to another, to processing units, to railway stations, warehouses and wholesalers etc.

On the occasion, the Agriculture Minister said that agriculture-related operations should continue amid the lockdown. He said that following the instruction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the agriculture sector has been exempted. When planting and harvesting is on, transportation will be much easier with the Kisan Rath app, as it will help farmers and traders to transport produce from farm to mandi and mandi to mandi across the country. While the lockdown is on in the country due to the state of Kovid-19, at this crucial stage, an app called ‘Kisan Rath’ will be helpful to farmers, FPOs and co-operatives in the country and will help them choose the right mode of transport to deliver agricultural produce from farm to market.

A mobile application called ‘Kisan Rath’ is used to transport a range of agricultural products such as food grains (cereals, pulses, coarse grains, pulses, etc.), fruits and vegetables, oilseeds, spices, fibrous crops, flowers, bamboo, forest related products, coconuts etc. It will help farmers and traders to make choices. This app helps traders to transport perishable goods quickly through refrigerated (refrigerated) vehicles.

Transportation of agricultural produce is important and an integral part of the supply chain.
