The Basic Education Council has started the online application process for recruitment of 69,000 assistant teachers from Monday. In this regard, advertisements for district wise vacancies have been announced on Sunday. 1 lakh 46 thousand 60 candidates who have passed the recruitment examination can now apply till 12 noon on May 26. In the recruitment examination, 36,614 candidates in the general category have passed with a cut-off of 65 per cent (97 marks out of 150). Also, on the basis of 60 per cent (90 marks out of 150), 24,308 candidates from Scheduled Castes and 270 from Scheduled Tribes, while 84,868 from Other Backward Classes have passed.
Confusion over whether to give existing teachers a chance
A large number of AVA candidates have also passed the teacher recruitment examination, who are currently working as assistant teachers in council schools. These teachers took the exam to reach their home district. Now the problem facing the department is that if these teachers are given a chance to join the new recruitment some of the candidates lagging behind in merit will be deprived. Moreover, when these teachers come to their home district, the existing district vacancies will be vacated again.
Candidates seeking opportunity for improvement
Candidates who have passed the recruitment test on the other hand are looking for an opportunity to correct the mistake made in the eligibility test application.
